IT Level I Support Specialist

Medcor is looking to hire a Full-Time IT Level 1 Support Specialist based on site in our McHenry, IL or Sioux Falls, SD corporate office. This role will provide support to our corporate and remote staff. The schedule is Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm, with occasional flexibility for special projects and/or urgent tasks.

This position will provide onsite and offsite level 1 technical assistance to computer system end users, respond to user requests, and provide resolution through phone, in person, or remotely. This position provides assistance and support to other department members with daily operations and projects, and represents the corporate IT department for both internal associates and external customers in a positive way by demonstrating responsibility of judgement, confidentiality, and professionalism. The person in this position will be expected to use a multitude of different troubleshooting mechanisms to resolve issues in a timely manner. This position works closely with different vendors/manufacturers to support a wide range of technological products. This position has great potential for growth.

A typical day in the life of an IT Level 1 Support Specialist:

  • Configure/Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, and computer peripherals, both locally and through remote administration
  • Setup new and used equipment for deployment to employees, performing or ensuring proper installation of hardware, operating systems, and appropriate software
  • Install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches and resolve software related problems
  • Use of a wide range of software applications and tools to diagnose and resolve issues
  • Read technical manuals, knowledgebase, confer with team members, and conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems and to provide technical assistance and support
  • Develop training materials and procedures, and/or train end users in the proper use of hardware and software
  • Arrange for hardware or software service, utilizing support agreements with vendors/manufacturers
  • Prepare evaluations of software or hardware, and recommend improvements or upgrades
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, clients, and team members

You Must

  • Have a HS Diploma
  • Have 1 year or more in IT Support related field
  • Have experience working with Operating Systems, Applications, and Hardware
  • Have fluency in technical terminology with an understanding of the interrelationship of software, hardware, and networked environments
  • Have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
  • Be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization, clients, vendors, suppliers and general public
  • Have attention to detail in preparation of materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Be able to work in a fast paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands, while working in a rapidly changing environment
  • Have excellent organizational, communication, follow up, and documentation skills
  • Be resourceful, detail-oriented, and possess great customer service skills

You Should

  • Have a Vocational / Technical Training or Associates Degree in IT Field
  • Have experience in Healthcare IT
  • Be A+ or current comparable certified
